Advanced Endoscopic Sinus Surgery Course and Vascular Injury Workshop Vienna

Medical University of Vienna, Austria

Vienna is warmly welcoming you for 2 intensive surgical workshops with international faculty is led by Professor P-J Wormald who has a Rhinology interest. Professor PJ Wormald is a recognized international leader and expert in rhinology. One of his major interests has been the development of new techniques for teaching endoscopic sinus surgery anatomy and techniques. He is widely acclaimed as a teacher of excellence and is invited to lecture nationally and internationally. The ADVANCED ENDOSCOPIC SINUS SURGERY workshop will focus on the hands-on-step-by step-surgical dissection performed by the participants with fresh-frozen specimen. The VASCULAR COURSE includes an animal model (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22451811) of a large vessel catastrophe during endoscopic skull base surgery. The most dramatic complication in endonasal surgery is inadvertent injury to the Internal Carotid Artery (ICA) causing massive bleeding which is often fatal. This course provides the unique opportunity for ENT and Neurosurgeons to improve their endoscopic skills in surgically managing this challenging complication, and to become familiar with the haemostatic options available. Ideally the neurosurgeon and ENT surgeon would register as a team, allowing the team to develop the skills together in a cooperative fashion. This course was only once held in Europe. For detailed information and registration regarding the courses please visit our course website.
